Competitiveness: energy in Brazil
Our regulated tariffs include a list of questionable costs of “animals” designated by the market: tortoises (crony power plants), cats (power theft that is about 10% of all production), duck curve, among others.
And the consequence is well known: Brazilian tariffs are the most expensive in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
This scenario explains the collapse of the Brazilian industrial GDP, which was “drown” by the so called “Brazil cost” (bureaucracy crony projects, etc.).
If Brazil wants to “turn around” in search of lost competitiveness, it is more than opportune to face these animals. Taking them out of the picture. Or remain undeveloped!
