LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify people who may be responsible for a train derailment that caused nearly $25,000 in damages.
According to a release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Friday, May 23, at around 5:20 p.m., the department learned of a train derailment in the 9700 block of South Rainbow Boulevard.
The derailment activated the train crossing barriers, which caused traffic issues.

Through the investigation, police learned that someone tampered with three railroad carts. The tampering caused one cart to roll off the tracks and two other carts to dump their contents, including rocks.
Detectives identified three people of interest who were seen in a truck in the area.
