I am an Xcel customer in the Colorado market. Yesterday, I received an email from Xcel with the subject “Energy Action Day: Reduce your footprint and make an impact.” The email presented a gamified approach to reducing energy usage, complete with badges and rewards for reducing consumption during peak times from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (we are on TOU plans).
I thought this was a really clever way to get the community involved with power demand. Most of the time, consumers only care when they receive a huge bill or their power goes out. I would love to hear stories from the community about other similar programs and how well they performed.
