About 45 people have been asked to leave their homes due to a gas leak.
Billericay Fire Station posted on Facebook at about 16:25 BST to say it was dealing with an incident in Southend Road, in Great Burstead, Essex.
Station manager Mat Bannon said: “About 45 residents have been evacuated as a precaution and we would like to thank them for their patience.
“As the wind is likely to change direction, we would advise all residents in the area to stay inside and keep their doors and windows closed.”

The fire service said it was “working with partners to resolve the incident”.
Bannon added: “The road is still closed, so please avoid the area if possible while we deal with the incident.”
A van belonging to gas distributor Cadent was photographed at the scene by the fire service. The BBC has contacted the company for a comment.
