LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two men are dead following an apparent murder-suicide at an extended stay hotel in the central valley, according to Las Vegas Metro police.
The incident occurred on Monday around 3:41 p.m. in the 1500 block of Flamingo Road near Maryland Parkway. Police received a 911 call that a gunshot had been heard and that a man had been found shot and injured.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s dead. During their investigation, they learned that a person witnessed an elderly man leaving the area at the time of the shooting and going into a room, and then heard another gunshot.

When officers made entry into that room, they found the elderly man in his 80s suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When a medical team arrived at the scene, they pronounced both men dead.

Police told 8 News Now the man shot and killed worked at the MainStay Suites hotel and was a fairly new employee. The elderly man was identified as a resident at the hotel by the police.
No other information was released.
