City of Las Vegas alerts residents to fake letter scam
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The City of Las Vegas wants residents to know about a scam targeting the planning commission and the public.
A spokesman for the city stated on Monday that a fake letter and invoice using the City of Las Vegas seal letterhead and planning commission name were being sent out to the public, asking for payment of an “application review and approval fee.”
“We do not send letters or bills like this for additional payments before it is set to go before the planning commission, and we never ask for wire transfers or payments via email,” a City of Las Vegas spokesman stated.

Those who notice a fake letter in the mail are advised not to send any money or share personal or business information. Those who receive a fake letter are also advised to report the incident by calling 702-229-6301.
Back in August, the city dealt with the same scam and posted video examples of the email.
