LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A tourist stabbed inside a Las Vegas casino has filed a lawsuit claiming negligence over a lack of security.
In June 2023, Felipe Nicholson stabbed George Beatty, a California cook, inside the Four Queens Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street, records said.
Nicholson later pleaded guilty to a charge of battery with substantial bodily harm, records said. As part of the plea agreement, which included two criminal cases combined, Nicholson agreed to serve 14-48 months in prison.

Beatty was gambling in the casino when Nicholson started arguing with another person, Beatty’s lawsuit said.
“During this commotion, Felipe bumped into the chair that George was sitting in multiple times,” documents said. “George stood up and attempted to move machines, but as George was doing this Felipe bumped into George again. George then asked Felipe what his problem was.”
The situation then escalated, according to the lawsuit.
“Felipe proceeded to chase George around the casino floor of the Four Queens,” documents said. “After a period of time, Felipe pulled out a knife and got close enough to attack George.”

Beatty was left with “permanent damage,” including to his arm, documents said.
The lawsuit alleges negligence on behalf of the casino, including the claim that Beatty never observed any security.
Nicholson remained in custody as of Tuesday as he approached two years into his sentence.
The lawsuit asks for a minimum of $15,000 in damages, which is standard for civil cases in Nevada.
Representatives of the hotel did not respond to a request for comment.
