If our Planet dies, we’ve all murdered it, If our planet continues to live, we’ve all donated to it.
For centuries, Electricity continues to be a major setback within the African communities especially in Cameroon. That is why Power generators have become a keyholder to almost every home and business as a fallback source incase of electricity outage or total absence as the case often is in the suburbs.
Unknown to many are the silent hazards that are caused by these machines, but who really cares when its just what you’ve got. However no amount of comfort should be traded for damage, that is why sensitization and awareness is mandatory. Sometimes its not just about using these power generators, it is the manner and extend to which they are used. A cliché to say when a product reaches Africa, it has truly met its final consumer.
Using diesel and petrol generators to power homes and businesses poses significant health, environmental, and safety risks. These generators emit harmful pollutants like carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter, which can cause respiratory issues and even fatal poisoning in poorly ventilated areas. Additionally, they contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating climate change, and their noise levels can cause stress and hearing problems.
Operational and safety risks include fire hazards due to the flammability of fuels, voltage fluctuations that damage sensitive electronics, and high operational costs from fluctuating fuel prices and regular maintenance needs. Improper handling and lack of maintenance can further increase the likelihood of accidents. Diesel and petrol generators also rely on non-renewable fossil fuels, creating environmental degradation and limiting the scalability of this power solution for larger energy needs.
To address these issues, users should consider alternatives like solar power, inverter generators, or clean energy sources. Proper installation, ventilation, and adherence to regulations can help reduce risks, while transitioning to sustainable energy solutions aligns with global environmental goals and provides a safer, more cost-effective power supply in the long term. Let’s opt for clean Energy sources
Our project The GreenTech for SME Project is designed to integrate sustainable practices into business operations, proving that economic growth and environmental sustainability can go hand in glove. To kickstart this initiative, we are inviting forward-thinking companies to participate in our Carbonization Evaluation Program.
