LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Video obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators shows the arrest of a Las Vegas Metro police sergeant on Oct. 23.
Kevin Menon, 42, had walked through security at the Regional Justice Center in downtown Las Vegas when officers who appeared to be in plain clothes took him into custody.

Menon was heading to a court appearance for the first criminal case he faced involving allegations he abused his power as police sergeant, violated people’s rights, and orchestrated fake arrests.
A grand jury indicted Menon for 13 charges related to the alleged scheme which resulted in individuals, mostly Black men, being detained on the Las Vegas strip. Menon posted a $27,000 bond to remain out of custody after his Aug. 30 arrest.

Police executed a search warrant at Menon’s home on the day of his first arrest.
Detectives found approximately 200 images of child sexual abuse material, including at least one image of a toddler, on two laptops, according to prosecutors.
The second arrest was in connection to two new counts related to the alleged child pornography.

Police went back to Menon’s home with another search warrant on the same day of his second arrest.

Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Nadia Wood set Menon’s bail at $100,000 cash with high-level electronic monitoring on Oct. 24. Menon’s defense attorney Dominic Gentile told Wood he was in possession of Menon’s passport and weapons.
Menon posted the full bail amount and was released from jail on Oct. 26, according to Gentile.
Prosecutors filed a motion for a bail hearing to increase Menon’s bail in the first case on Oct. 29.
“The vast array of images on defendant Menon’s computers are as extensive as they are disturbing,” prosecutors wrote in the motion. “There are extensive photographs of children posed in sexually provocative positions in various states of undress.”
Prosecutors also allege Menon tried, but failed to delete approximately 90 images of child sexual abuse material from his laptop after he was relieved of duty, had sophisticated software like VPN and scrubbing devices on his devices, and downloaded the images from Russian websites.
Menon was collecting child pornography as recently as February, according to prosecutors.
A hearing in the first case is scheduled for Nov. 6. A preliminary hearing in the second case is scheduled for Nov. 7.
After his arrest, the department placed Menon on leave with pay and his police powers were suspended pending an investigation. The department has since stopped paying him.
