Let’s start the week on a positive note and highlight two clean energy milestones. One has already occurred, and the other will occur later this month. Both happened in places more commonly associated with fossil fuels: Texas – the home of Big Oil, and the United Kingdom – the birthplace of coal as an fuel source to produce electricity.
In the case of Texas, other states should take note of what it takes to expedite clean energy installations. The state’s Independent System Operator – ERCOT – has been instrumental is creating an environment conducive to getting projects developed and more importantly connected.
Note that because the Texas grid is not connected to those in other states, ERCOT doesn’t fall under the thumb of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). I wonder if that has something to do with the state’s ability to get things done?
