Energy: changing paradigms
In the current model of the electric energy sector, which dates back many decades, the rules are established and each “actor” in the production chain (generation, transmission, distribution and consumption) must “do their part”.
It was successful in the sense that supply met demand.
There is an opportunity to make significant progress with no need to change the current rules BUT depends on the interest and commitment of suppliers and demanders.
Instead of each actor focusing exclusively on complying with established institutional rules, seek solutions of mutual interests.
If so, there are many opportunities to develop interesting and convenient solutions for all parties. BUT… the big challenge – huge in reality – is to move from the comfort of reactively complying with regulations to the pro activeness of discovering solutions that generate value for everyone involved.
I have concrete examples of this type of approach from the electric utilities and energy users (companies and institutions) perspectives – anyone who wants to know and potentially apply it – get in touch!
