Deregulated energy: is Brazil prepared?

With the possibility of thousands of “smaller” business consumers being able to migrate to the free (power) market, an important new challenge has arisen. Enable compliance for this “platoon”:

1. New “wire” contracts

2. Termination of regulated contracts

3. Telemetry

4. Free contracts with the chosen supplier

Demands 1 to 3 are simple conceptually BUT from what I have seen, in practice, electric utility distributors are not prepared for this “avalanche”. Demand 4 is the one that is going well ahead of time.

What I’m noticing:

1. “Wire” contracts are not being signed BEFORE migration

2. Regulated  contracts are not being formally terminated

3. The Power Clearing House is having difficulties meeting the demand for telemetry

The signs are worrying. Unpreparedness, improvisation and poor service from “account executives” can be seen.
