Bolivian gas ending: what now?
Supposedly, Bolivian gas reserves are running out and the expected consequence is the end of supply to Brazil.
Is this good or bad? The best answer I know is “it depends”!!!
If the choice is to adopt a free gas market, in which customers and suppliers will negotiate in an environment of supply and demand, the chances are for a competitive regime that tends to benefit everyone.
If, however, the preference is to close “official” contracts with a “carefully chosen” supplier, the greater probability will be an outcome well known to Brazilians: prices above international parity.
So it’s about figuring out what we’ll prefer!
