Liquid hydrogen is very cold, here CB&I has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) for the design of a liquid hydrogen cargo containment system
The containment system will be based on CB&I’s vacuum-insulated spherical technology for onshore liquid hydrogen storage, with a Hazard Identification (HAZID) risk assessment carried out as an integral part of the AiP process to ensure all hazards in the system were addressed.
The system was integrated into a Houlder concept vessel, which includes a hull optimised for the low-density cargo around three large tanks.
