Credit Card interest and solar energy

The discussion that arose on the initiative of the Central Brazilian Bank, on payment using a credit card and associated interest, leads us to a reflection.

When I recently went to buy a new cell phone, the cash price and the installment price (in 10 monthly installments) were the same!

I asked if I could pay cash in exchange for a discount. The answer was negative!

In many other purchases that I have made and make, the same thing happens!

Any of us who have some financial background know that “spot” and “forward” prices have different costs, due to interest. Obviously!

Conceptually, the offers I referred to above have, different costs. But they do not reflect this fact. This is yet another absurdity! Who would be the fool to pay “now”?

This discussion is relevant because I realize that many of my neighbors, when evaluating the installation of a solar source on their roofs, calculate the amortization without interest. As if it didn’t exist!
