Hi
All global Green Hydrogen enthusiast, investors, developers, OEMs & other stakeholders……….
Where are you now & what’s the plan?
Current global momentum is as below:
1. 700 MW electrolysis capacity is developed by the end of 2022 where 300 MW by China itself
2. Clean hydrogen supply capacity around 800 ktpa
3. OEM announced electrolyser manufacturing capacity around 9 GW
4. Fuel cell capacity around 12 GW
5. Fuel cell buses on the road around 80000
6. Ammonia Terminal in place-120 (32 export & 88 import)
**Hydrogen demand in India will increase 5 to 10 times by 2050.
** Current demand is focusing on Ammonia & refineries
** India (Bharat) targets non fossil energy 500 GW by 2030 (50% of energy requirement), Energy independent by 2047 & Net zero by 2070
** India economy will become 10 Trillion USD by 2030 from present 2.75 Trillion USD
** Per capita energy consumption of Indian to grow from 0.6 to global average 1.8 tones of oil equivalent (toe)
** Assuming solar electricity cost with 23% CUF as Rs.1.9 per KWH by 2030, hydrogen production cost will be around 2.09 USD per kg from current 4.2 USD & green Ammonia NH3 cost will be around 422.63 USD per tonne from current 797.53 USD per tonne.
** Variation in open access tariff of different states will impact the LCOH2.
So followings to be done”
1. Harmonization of green hydrogen definition & regulatory framework to avoid issues related to export/import demand & pricing
2. General awareness among people
3. Investment decisions supported by Govt.
4. Enablers for hydrogen market are low cost production, scale up, skilling, low cost finance, de risking of mega projects & creating basic infrastructure for storage, transportation, supply & distribution etc. Hydrogen with CNG or dedicated tube trailers, pipe lines, tanks & re fulling stations.
5. Minimize demand uncertainty by making policies mandates for reduced carbon footprints, increase of hydrogen usage & execution of long term contracts.
6. Strategic interventions for green hydrogen transition (SIGHT)-around 20K crore outlay (2029-2030) by GoI for electrolyser manufacturing & production of green hydrogen.
