Iran again closes Strait of Hormuz, U.S. seizes Iranian ship as Trump issues new threats but also raises hope for cease-fire extension

After a three-week-long rally that’s brought the S&P 500 to record heights, investors are again bracing for uncertainty following a whirlwind of weekend developments concerning the war with Iran.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YM00 were down about 350 points, or 0.7%, as of 11 p.m. Eastern on Sunday. S&P 500 futures ES00 and Nasdaq-100 futures NQ00 were both down about 0.5%. Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures CL.1 surged 6%, to around $89 a barrel. Bitcoin BTCUSD fell and was last trading around $74,000, erasing Friday’s rally that saw the crypto hit a two-month high.
