LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A judge sentenced a man who grabbed another man’s gun and killed him with it inside a Las Vegas business in May 2025 to at least 20 years in prison.
Kyle Capucci, 37, agreed to plead guilty in February to a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, documents said. Capucci shot and killed David Carcamo, 21, with Carcamo’s gun inside an AutoZone store on Charleston Boulevard near Maryland Parkway on May 23, 2025.
Police said Carcamo was open carrying the firearm on his hip.

Videos the 8 News Now Investigators obtained last year showed a man prosecutors identified as Capucci walking into the store barefoot and without pants. A camera captured Capucci and Carcamo struggling over the gun, but the actual shooting was not recorded. Seconds after the struggle, a camera shows Capucci calmly walking through the store.

A blood test found methamphetamine in Capucci’s system, police said. In an interview with police, Capucci said he thought someone was trying to kill him, documents said.
Capucci was released from prison on April 28, 2025, just weeks before his arrest for this murder, a Nevada Department of Corrections spokesperson confirmed last year. The Nevada Parole Board denied him parole after a 2024 hearing.
In 2022, Capucci pleaded guilty to an attempted robbery charge after police said he threatened a restaurant employee with a knife, documents said. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors did not oppose Capucci entering drug court and serving probation. In the months afterward, Capucci violated his probation and self-terminated from the drug court program, sending him to prison.
