LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Dramatic videos the 8 News Now Investigators obtained Thursday show an alleged drunk driver crashing into a family walking on a sidewalk near the Las Vegas Strip, severely injuring several people, including a 2-year-old.
A Clark County grand jury indicted Gavin Caci, 28, a club promoter, on DUI, reckless driving and hit-and-run-related charges, the 8 News Now Investigators first reported.
The crash occurred on Sunday, Feb. 8, around 7:35 p.m. near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane just east of the Las Vegas Strip. Police said Caci drove up on a sidewalk, collided with a car, returned to the sidewalk and then collided with three pedestrians.

Caci’s vehicle, a Tesla, recorded several angles of the crash.

A preliminary blood test revealed Caci’s blood-alcohol level was 0.22 less than two hours after the crash, the 8 News Now Investigators first reported. The legal limit in Nevada is 0.08, meaning Caci was close to three times that number.
During an interview with a responding officer, Caci said he drank tequila at a nightclub but could not remember which club, documents said.
The family of three was visiting from the United Kingdom for a wedding, documents said. During the crash, a 2-year-old child in a stroller was ejected from it before colliding with a pole, prosecutors said.

“I got thrown into the air, landed on my right side, so suffered some pain from my right elbow, right hip, back,” the 2-year-old’s father told the grand jury, according to transcripts. “By the time I’d come back to see my wife, she was lying on the floor not moving. She had a humungous lump on the side of her head, bleeding from her head. She was confused. She kept asking me what happened. Wasn’t making much sense. Was unable to move. The paramedics come [sic] and transported her on a stretcher into the ambulance.”
In the aftermath, the mother and toddler were hospitalized with severe injuries. Two weeks ago, Metro police released video of the family thanking officers. Among other things, first responders checked on the family daily, brought them food, and even toys for the child, police said.

The family has filed a lawsuit against Caci and Tesla Lease Trust. The lawsuit claims the trust “should have known” that Caci “was likely to operate the vehicle in an unsafe or reckless manner.”
The driver involved in the first collision also told the grand jury she was injured.

Caci was scheduled for trial on April 13. Prosecutors invoked their right to a 60-day timeline during a hearing on Tuesday.
A police officer cited Caci late last year for speeding more than 25 miles over the limit, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained last month. On Dec. 10, 2025, a police officer cited Caci for speeding on Galleria Drive near Ward Drive in Henderson, documents said. The officer “visually estimated” Caci was driving 70 mph in the 45-mph zone. The officer’s radar clocked Caci at 69 mph.
Caci was ticketed in 2023 for causing a crash and in 2024 for speeding, records said.
The family declined an interview request after Caci’s arrest, but their attorney, Al Lasso, said in a statement: “They trust that the justice system will speak for them as the case proceeds, and they believe it is important to allow the facts to be addressed in the proper forum rather than through public commentary.”
