WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Oil spilled into the Chikaskia River south of Spivey on Sunday, the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office said.
The office said citizens and oilfield personnel helped them determine the source of the leak.
Containment measures have been started, and the sheriff’s office said it believes there is no danger to the public.

State and federal officials have been contacted and will continue to assess and monitor the impact of the spill.
