LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Shoppers shared their reactions to a paid parking option recently added to the Las Vegas South Premium outlets.
“Oh my God,” Brian Sanchez said. “That should be illegal.”
Sanchez was one of several who shared strong reactions on Thursday to the latest parking update at the center near Las Vegas Boulevard and Warm Springs Road.
“I mean, we are at an outlet mall,” shopper Morgan Bowles. “We shouldn’t have to pay to park here.”

“I think it’s just ridiculous,” Brianna Grove added. “Because we are already coming here to shop.”
Many noticed new signs in the parking lot, advertising Upfront Plus Parking.
The service provides a QR code shoppers can scan, which then directs them to pay $5, $11, or $17 for a parking space close to the building’s entrance.

Many told 8 News Now they don’t love the idea of an open lot that is nowhere near the resort corridor.

“I live five minutes from here. This is ridiculous,” Sanchez said. “I don’t live on the Strip, you know what I’m saying?”
The Las Vegas South Premium Outlets provided the following statement explaining the update:

“Las Vegas South Premium Outlets began offering a new convenient parking option, Upfront Plus Parking, this past summer. The parking option features 12 pay-to-park spaces near the front of the parking lots. These are just 12 of the 2,500 total parking spaces available at Las Vegas South Premium Outlets. These spaces did not impact any handicap or other reserved parking at the center.”
However, shoppers said they would like to see more free options in the area.
“If I’m going out to shop,” Bowles said. “I don’t want to have to pay extra to do it.”
Bowles and others added that they would like to save money to spend more in stores.

“Times are hard as it is,” Grove concluded. “So that is not really worth it.”
The outlet’s parent company, Simon Malls, uses the same Up Front Plus Parking service at other locations, including the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
The Las Vegas North Premium Outlets in Downtown Las Vegas, which is also owned by the same company, charges garage and surface lot parking, but locals with a Nevada ID can park for free.
