LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — City of Las Vegas crews started removing vehicles on Friday after repeated complaints of people living in abandoned RVs, trailers, and cars in an east Las Vegas neighborhood.
Residents told 8 News Now that while the cleanup is a step in the right direction, they’re still worried the issue isn’t completely solved.

“I am so happy when I saw that, I think that’s fabulous, as you can see what type of people they are, that’s awesome,” said neighbor Theresa Perez.
Perez added that she appreciated the progress but hoped the city would stay consistent to prevent the problem from returning.
She said the vehicles had become magnets for trash, illegal dumping, and safety concerns, with many parked for long periods without moving.
“I felt like I was so alone in calling or reporting. That little trailer right here on Cartier they’re gone, and of course they left their buckets behind, and that’s so disgusting it’s just not ok,” said Perez.

Oscar Gonzalez is the owner of Herma Graphix, which specializes in car wraps and tinting near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards.
He said abandoned vehicles have been an ongoing issue there during the six years his business has operated, sometimes impacting customers and day-to-day operations.
“It’s the garbage and the vehicles, my clients think their cars will get damaged here, and it becomes a very big problem that also affects our work,” said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez added that while the area may look better now, the ongoing activity still concerns him.
“They make bonfires, they use the bathroom outdoors, it’s very, very uncomfortable right now, it looks clean, but there are days when it’s a mess of clothes,” said Gonzalez.

Abandoned vehicles can pose public health risks and block emergency access, which is why enforcement teams work to identify owners first before removing them.
Officials said cleanup efforts take time because they must follow legal procedures, including tagging vehicles and issuing notices before towing them away.
