NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands across Middle Tennessee have not had reliable electricity for days as crews work around the clock to try to restore power to customers.
In one South Nashville neighborhood, News 2 spoke with Adonis Marzos, who said he’s staying at his cousin’s house because his home hasn’t had power since Saturday.
“If we didn’t have somebody, we wouldn’t know what to do. it may be freezing inside the house… “…It may be 32 degrees [in the house].”

Residents on Ellington Circle told News 2 people have been going to their cars to warm up and charge their phones.

Asia Witaker said she’s staying at a friend’s home because her home hasn’t had power since Sunday morning.
“We lost power around 6:30 — 6:43 in the morning on Sunday and we sort of dealt with it, but the house was really cold and then Sunday night, it got really cold and we were just kind of over it,” Whitaker told News 2. “By the next morning, it was freezing and I was sitting on the couch in a puffer jacket and several layers of pants texting about trying to figure out what to do and my fingers were freezing, and I was like ‘Okay, this isn’t sustainable.’”

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nashville Electric Service said there’s still about 119,000 customers without power. At least 216 broken poles were reported as broken across their service area. The utility said it deployed about 700 line workers Tuesday morning as well as 207 vegetation management teams.

NES said they’ve been restoring power by tackling areas affecting the largest number of customers first.
