LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Neighbors in the northeast valley are on high alert after a spike in overnight crime that was captured on home surveillance cameras.
Residents living near East Carey Avenue and North Bruce Street said it’s everything from car break-ins to loitering around garages and yards.
“Its actually a few people its a group of younger kids, and then it’s also maybe some teenagers,” said neighbor Leslie Gonzales.

Much of that overnight activity was shared online by Gonzales through neighborhood watch apps and social media.
She said what’s most alarming is how much of the activity was captured on camera and how similar the behavior looks from house to house.
Neighbors are urging each other to compare footage, communicate, and see if the same people may be responsible.

“We can come together as a community to possibly have a talk with their kids that you know this is what’s right, this is what’s not, and with work and everything, we kind of get sidetracked as to how to do that with our kids,” said Gonzales.

Surveillance photos captured by neighbors showed several people walking through yards and driveways late at night.
One victim said their truck was broken into, while others reported seeing suspicious activity around checking car doors and entering garages.
“That’s why we have cameras all over the place, because my dad doesn’t even leave the garage door open because he feels somebody is going to go in there and steal his stuff,” said Gonzales.

But not everyone in the community knew there was a problem.
“I mean, it’s not the greatest area, but this neighborhood is pretty nice there’s schools here, tons of children here,” said neighbor Hailey James.

While James said she was unaware of the break-ins, others who’ve lived in the area much longer said these safety concerns are not new.
“We try and keep an eye out for each other just because we all work very hard for our stuff, so last thing we want is for somebody to just come in and take it because they want to, you know,” said an anonymous neighbor.
Residents said they plan to keep sharing information and footage in hopes of identifying those responsible.
