LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – One person is dead following a stabbing north of Downtown Las Vegas, according to police.
The stabbing took place on Thursday in the 800 block of Weaver Drive near Owens Avenue and H Street.
Las Vegas Metro police received several calls that a man was chasing people with a knife. Police later received a call that a person had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found several people subduing the armed man.
Another man in his 40s was found in the middle of a street with stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As police continued to investigate the stabbing, they learned the suspect had visited his mother’s home before the stabbing.
Police described the suspect as “acting erratically” as he knocked on his mother’s door. When she answered the door, the suspect started swinging the knife toward her.
The suspect then started chasing his brother down the street, and as he did so, police said another person walking down the street caught the suspect’s attention. The suspect then began chasing the passerby down the street, stabbing him several times. The suspect’s brother attempted to disarm him but was unable to do so as officers arrived, police said.

The suspect had minor injuries and was taken into custody by police.

Police described the incident as an isolated incident. Those with information on the incident are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555. The stabbing remains under investigation.
