The crash happened on Sunday, Dec. 7, shortly after 5:30 a.m. Metro police responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Flamingo Road and Decatur Boulevard.
Evidence at the scene and surveillance footage showed that a man, later identified as 59-year-old Jianzhi Li, was crossing Flamingo Road outside of a marked crosswalk and pushing a wheelchair, documents said. The driver of a Ford F-150, later identified as Huber, was traveling westbound on Flamingo Road when he hit the pedestrian, dragging him along the road, according to police.

Huber failed to stop or stay at the scene and continued westbound on Flamingo Road, police said. Li was pronounced dead at the scene.
One day later, on Dec. 7, around 7:30 a.m., police received a call reporting a domestic dispute between an engaged couple.

When police arrived at the home, they met with Huber and his fiancée and located the truck involved in the crash and the license plate matching the description of the plate seen in the video footage, according to the report.
Huber’s fiancée told police that Huber had left alone on Saturday night, Dec. 6, and had returned home the following morning on Dec. 7.
When he returned home, he asked her to come outside and take a look at the front end of his truck. She told officers he was acting “different” and that there was new damage to the front end of the truck, and that Huber said he did not remember how it happened, according to the arrest report. The two then began to look at the dashcam video on the truck to see how the damage occurred.
However, they told police they were not able to locate the video footage. After that, his fiancée told police that Huber became upset, and an altercation began between the couple, according to the police report.

He then started making suicidal threats with a gun in the backyard of their home, and that is when his fiancée called the police “to report Huber’s actions,” according to the arrest report.
Security footage from Huber’s neighborhood showed that when he left his home on Saturday night, his truck had two operational front headlights, and that upon his return on Sunday around 5:52 a.m., the driver’s side headlight from his truck was missing, as well as the front grill, according to police.
Officers arrested Huber for discharging a firearm and making suicidal threats. Huber was taken to the Henderson Detention Center.
Once at the jail, Huber told officers that he was dealing with mental health issues and was driving a friend home who lived on Flamingo Road; however, he denied any involvement in a crash, according to the police report.

Officers stated in the police report that Huber had “bloodshot/watery eyes and a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emitting from his mouth when he spoke.” Officers also noted Huber to have “slurred and confused speech,” according to the arrest report. Huber refused to take a standardized field sobriety test and a blood draw.
As of Dec. 15, Huber faces the following charges:
-
Duty to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or harm
A judge previously set bail at $150,000. Huber remained in custody as of Monday.
