LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – An 82-year-old Las Vegas woman is speaking out after she said thieves stole her jewelry.
Jeanetta Slusher told 8 News Now the crime happened to her in the Costco parking lot near Galleria Mall, in Henderson. Police said these types of thefts are happening all over the valley.

She said two women approached her, pretending to show her jewelry and asking her to try it on. While she was distracted, they quietly removed her own necklace without her even realizing.

“She started with this jewelry, she said, ‘here have this and I said no, I don’t want it’ the other lady got out of the car wrapped a gold chain around my wrist, and I believe that’s when she stole my bracelet and then she tried to put a necklace on my neck and I told her no,” Slusher said.

By the time she realized something was wrong, she said the women were already gone, leaving her stunned, confused, and heartbroken.
“That’s when she removed the necklace I’ve worn for 34 years, and it’s very special, it has all my grandkids’ little gold charms on it,” she said.

Slusher said the jewelry can never be replaced; to her, they are not just valuables, they are memories. But beyond the loss, she has a message she hopes the thieves hear about pain and accountability.
“People who stole from me, god’s going to get you justice, will be done, he will get you,” said Slusher.
Police said distraction-style thefts often involve multiple people working together. One creating conversation, the other removing jewelry or valuables in seconds.
