LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Longtime Las Vegas pizzeria, Metro Pizza, announced Tuesday that it will be closing its Tropicana Avenue location after 37 years serving the community.
The pizzeria made the announcement in an Instagram post that the 1395 East Tropicana Avenue location near Maryland Parkway will close on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.
“We are deeply grateful to all of our Metro Pizza friends and family for your support over the many decades,” Metro Pizza said.

Metro Pizza has several locations across the Las Vegas valley from the northwest valley to Henderson.
Although the Las Vegas history of Metro Pizza starts in 1980, the folklore of the business goes further back. In 1967, cousins and co-founders of Metro Pizza, Sam Facchini and John Arena, were 11 and 12 years old and worked in their family pizzeria—just down the block from their high school, Facchini told 8 News Now in December of last year.
“We were blessed to be born into a family that had been doing pizza since 1928,” he told 8 News Now in December 2024. “Believe it or not, from a family perspective, we’re coming up on our centennial anniversary in 2028.”
On June 1, 1980, Metro Pizza opened in Las Vegas on East Flamingo Road and South Sandhill Road, the start of their impact in the community—under the name “The Original New York Pizza.”

In December 1999, a big landmark moment came for the business during “Millennium Week,” with the opening of their first freestanding building — the Tropicana and Maryland location. Six months later, they opened a limited menu counter location inside the Ellis Island Casino and Hotel.
“Come visit us one last time at our Tropicana Ave. location this Friday, November 28th in celebration of our history, our loyal staff (who will all continue to work with us at our other locations going forward), and of course, our future. The Best is Yet to Come!” the post said.
