LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man was shot and killed on a Las Vegas freeway after charging a vehicle with a knife, according to Metro police.
Around 6:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting that stemmed from a road rage incident on westbound 215 Southern Beltway between Jones and Rainbow boulevards.
When officers arrived they found a person lying in the road suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and the shooter was still at the scene.

Police said there was a minor crash where the shooter rear-ended a vehicle on the 215. The shooter then got out of his vehicle to render aid to the other driver when the other driver got out of his vehicle with a knife.
He chased him with a knife around his vehicle several times before the shooter was able to get back inside his vehicle where he grabbed his gun. The knife-wielding man then began to stab his car and the tires, police said.

The driver with the gun then got out of his vehicle and told the man with a knife to go away. The knife-wielding man then lunged at the other driver, causing him to fire his gun, hitting the knife-wielding man, according to police.

The shooter immediately began to render aid to the man and two bystanders, who were nurses, stepped in to help while waiting for medical personnel to arrive.
The knife-wielding man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the shooter was detained and was expected to be released from the scene.
All westbound lanes on the 215 were closed between Jones and Rainbow boulevards, police said. The lanes re-opened around 11 p.m.
