Hydrogen is categorized by a colour spectrum based on production methods and carbon impact, with green hydrogen produced via electrolysis using renewable energy. As a clean energy carrier, green hydrogen is vital for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors and supporting renewable integration. However, scaling it up faces challenges like high costs, limited infrastructure, and technological maturity. Advances in electrolyzer technologies and supportive policies are key to its expansion. Real-world projects in Italy, South Korea, India, and Australia highlight both the potential and current barriers to green hydrogen adoption worldwide.
