In Australia our energy system is under pressure as we grapple with an ageing coal-based grid and the volatility brought by the growing adoption of renewables. But there are also opportunities ahead.
It was great to speak to Ticker TV about how we can transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy system without sacrificing reliability.
Here are a few of the questions we’re facing:
➡️ How do we make renewables like wind and solar, which are variable in nature, work in a way that helps balance supply and demand?
➡️ Are grid-scale batteries the key to soaking up excess solar energy during the day and releasing it when we need it most?
➡️ EVs aren’t just cars anymore. How do we use these powerful “batteries on wheels” to support both home energy use and the grid?
➡️ How do we bring consumers along this journey?
➡️ How can automation and AI unlock smarter, more flexible energy use in Australian households?
These aren’t just technical challenges. They’re opportunities to rethink how our energy system works – let me know your thoughts on them in the comments below.
Thanks again to the Ticker team for having me on.
