LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police believe at least two people are dead following a fiery crash near the North Las Vegas Airport.
The crash happened in the area of Cheyenne Avenue and Valley Drive at around 10:15 a.m.
Officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department responded to the crash, where two vehicles were on fire.

At the time of publication, police believed at least two people involved in the collision were dead.

A witness told 8 News Now they saw a vehicle attempt to avoid a collision with another vehicle, but swerved into the path of a garbage truck.
The witness said the garbage truck “dragged” the other vehicle for a short distance before bursting into flames.
“We were in the office and we heard this big sonic boom,” Arthur Stibick, who works nearby, told 8 News Now. “We thought it was a jet flying over. We came out here and saw the garbage truck was on fire.”
A spokesperson with Republic Services told 8 News Now the company was fully cooperating with authorities. The spokesperson added the company was unable to provide any additional information due to the ongoing investigation.

Police did not initially provide any additional information about the crash, as the investigation was in its early stages. Drivers should expect road closures in the area.
