Jesus Robles Jr., 49, was driving an unregistered black 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Jones Boulevard when he hit McCoy Jr. from behind, police said. A witness traveling in a Tesla equipped with cameras captured footage of the crash, police said.
The video showed McCoy was projected through the air upon impact. His e-bike was propelled 175 feet north before landing on its side, police said.
McCoy was taken to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased. A family friend, Melanie Angeles, told 8 News Now that McCoy had two daughters who are in kindergarten and third grade.
