New Delhi: India is taking decisive steps toward becoming the epicentre of the global electrical and energy industry, with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urging stakeholders to consolidate major trade expos into a unified world-class platform.
Speaking at ELECRAMA 2025, the country’s premier electrical industry event, Goyal emphasised that a single, large-scale exposition will position India as the go-to destination for energy solutions, smart grids, and next-gen power technologies.
“India is at the forefront of the global energy transition, and our electrical industry plays a crucial role in this transformation,” Goyal stated. “Instead of fragmented expos, we must create one mega event that attracts global investors, innovators, and policymakers, firmly establishing India’s dominance in the power sector.”
He called upon industry associations to take the lead in scaling up India’s domestic manufacturing, expanding exports, and securing international collaborations. “If we showcase our capabilities at scale, the world will look to India for the future of electrical innovation,” he added.
India accelerates toward third-largest economy status
Adding further weight to India’s economic ambitions, Vimal Anand, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, made a significant announcement—India is set to become the world’s third-largest economy by next year, a milestone that was originally projected for 2030.
“Our infrastructure growth—across logistics, mobility, and utilities—is accelerating at an unprecedented rate,” Anand stated. “We are no longer just catching up; we are leading.”
Key industry collaborations and MoUs to expand India’s global footprint
A major highlight of the event was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM). These agreements will strengthen international collaborations, drive foreign investment, and enhance India’s position in the global power sector.
Industry leaders acknowledged that strategic partnerships and technology-driven growth are essential to achieving India’s ambitious energy transition goals.
eTECHnxt Conference Spotlights Digital Transformation and Clean Energy
ELECRAMA 2025 also hosted the fifth edition of the eTECHnxt conference, which focused on clean energy, energy storage, carbon markets, and smart grids. Experts emphasized that India’s power sector transformation depends on automation, digitization, and workforce upskilling.
A key release at the conference was the whitepaper ‘New Frontiers in Power Generation’, which explored the role of energy storage in making renewables cost-efficient and grid modernization more effective.
Global experts discuss India’s role in the future of energy
The event concluded with an insightful roundtable discussion, ‘Bharat, the Vishwamitra’, led by Dr. Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India. The session highlighted how structural reforms, smart infrastructure, and foreign investments can sustain India’s high economic growth while ensuring inclusive development.
From policy shifts to emerging technologies, ELECRAMA 2025 is setting the agenda for India’s energy future, bridging the gap between innovation, investment and global collaboration.
With an expanding manufacturing base, a push for renewables and increasing foreign partnerships, India is poised to become a global powerhouse in the electrical industry—one that doesn’t just follow the energy transition but leads it.
