It seems there is a fossil fuel theme to my posts this week. It wasn’t intentional. It just worked out that way when I read an excellent article by Hannah Ritchie (2025) titled “𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤 𝙛𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙡 𝙛𝙪𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚?” published on OurWorldinData.org.
I’ve seen the dollar amount of the subsidy that the climate community touts in numerous articles, and it struct me as a genuine an issue.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀?
It sounds like something that happens because oil & gas lobbyists have politicians in their hip pocket. But a closer look reveals a very different reality.
