LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man may have suffered a medical episode before crashing into a metal pole and gate in the west Las Vegas valley, resulting in his death, according to police.
On Sunday at noon, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the crash on Vegas Drive near south Jones Boulevard and west Washington Avenue.
LVMPD said witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated that a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta was driving east through a parking lot when the driver suddenly accelerated toward the apartment complex entrance. The car hit a metal pole and crashed into the front gate, police said.

The unidentified 26-year-old driver may have experienced a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, LVMPD said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead, police said.
This crash currently remains under investigation.
