Canary Media: “Almost all new U.S. power plants are carbon-free.” I will grant you that the U.S. is building new fossil methane power plants, as well as limping along in new nuclear. And yes, “the U.S. is still building some new fossil gas power plants—and yes, utilities nationwide are trying to build a lot more of them—but 97 percent of new capacity set to come online this year is carbon-free, per a U.S. Energy Information Administration [EIA] report in August. And the momentum is such that even a new administration in Washington, D.C. cannot set up enough roadblocks to derail this energy transition.
