Energy and the residential sector
The residential sector represents about 30% of Brazil’s electricity consumption. Therefore, it is very relevant!
While in developed countries there is a systemic search for energy efficiency, here it is not even mentioned. Much less done!
Instant showers – for example – are installed in most homes and should constitute the largest aggregate load in GW in the country.
Replacing them with solar heating or even with thermal storage electric devices programmed for heating in the “demand valleys” of the national curve of the integrated system would generate great benefits for all parties involved.
The investments in this solution are much lower than the increase in the capacity of the production chain of the electricity sector (marginal cost of expansion) and, best of all, they are essentially national.
