Energy: 3 opportunities 

In Brazil, we have a list of opportunities that involve widely mastered technology, conceptually simple BUT that depend on competent leadership to “make it happen”.

1) Water heaters

Instead of instant showers – which represent the LARGEST installed load in GW in the country – install alternatives such as electric tank heaters, gas or even solar.

2)  Power theft

Create a plan to vigorously combat gatos, which represent close to 15% of all electricity produced in the country and which are paid by honest consumers.

3) Demand response

Expand the program (which is currently only available to “electro-intensive” consumers) as is the case in countries that are at the forefront of electricity.

These 3 opportunities, combined, would potentially save dozens of GW of power, allowing the national integrated system to meet load increases WITHOUT investments, benefiting everyone from end users to power supply chain.
