LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police have arrested a driver involved in an Aug. 28 hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead in the southeast Las Vegas valley.
Ayanna Lillard, 31, was arrested Monday as Metro police continue to investigate. The arrest comes a month after a man was hit after he ran into Nellis Boulevard after an altercation that left him with a stab wound.
The victim has been identified as Auntrell Clark, 39, of Las Vegas, according to an update on the case from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The crash occurred at about 3 a.m. on Aug. 28 on Nellis at Lana Drive.
Police had been looking for a 2015 Dodge Challenger with damage to the front bumper. After colliding with the pedestrian, the driver of the Challenger got out of the car and removed the bumper of the vehicle, police said in a news conference after the crash. The driver then left the scene, making a U-turn to head north on Nellis.
Police had a good description of the Challenger, including the car’s California license tag.
During that news conference, police said they were trying to identify a woman who was in a fight with Clark before he was struck by the car. No update was provided on that part of the investigation.
Lillard faces a charge for failure to stop at the scene of an accident. She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
The investigation shut down Nellis Boulevard near Harmon Avenue for about 12 hours.
