UPDATE: The southbound lanes of I-15 reopened to traffic around 4 a.m. Friday after being closed for more than seven hours overnight following a deadly shooting on the freeway.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Las Vegas police have closed all lanes along I-15 southbound from Spring Mountain Road to Flamingo following a freeway shooting involving two vehicles.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, the shooting took place on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. when a driver headed south on I-15 between Spring Mountain and Flamingo roads was shot at by a person in another car.
The person who was struck crashed into a center median. That person was taken to a hospital where he passed away, police said.
The transit authority’s email alert system sent a message shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday that two lanes were blocked at Flamingo Road. By 9:05 p.m. another message was sent out by RTC that all lanes were blocked at Spring Mountian Road.
No information on the suspected shooter was released. The identity of the driver killed will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
