On Monday my post covered a new study that discovered that trees absorb methane. I realize that methane takes a back seat (actually a way back seat) to carbon dioxide, but is the climate movement making yet another tactical error in ignoring methane?
A new study suggests that the answer is yes.
True, methane dissipates much faster than CO2. And true, as a percentage of greenhouse gas emissions, methane accounts for less than a quarter of total carbon dioxide emissions. But what is also true is that methane is many many more times harmful and is responsible for an outsized portion of global warming.
Check out the presentation to see how much methane emissions have risen and the sources of the rise.
