Could this novel approach to solar become a thing?

I firmly believe that 50 to 100 years from now many of the solar projects being built today will be dismantled and replaced with more efficient, less intermittent solutions. I understand the value solar and wind provide today, but we should temper our resource allocation strategy to ensure sufficient funds are provided to solutions more aligned with how grids operate.

The exception is where solar (or wind) is the only solution. For solar – rooftops make perfect sense because it allows a roof to become a clean power source versus just being a roof. Canopy systems like those built above parking lots are similar in nature. And soon there may be another viable canopy system – over canals.
