LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — It’s been a deadly morning following the Fourth of July holiday on Las Vegas roads. Three people are dead in two separate crashes.
Two people were killed in a hit-and-run crash on the east side of the valley at Charleston and Hollywood boulevards. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the crash was reported around 2:45 a.m. and possibly involved speeding. The crash happened when a white truck traveling south on Hollywood collided with a blue SUV heading west on Charleston. Both people inside the SUV were killed.
Police said two males were in the truck and the driver fled. The intersection is closed in all directions for the investigation. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes.
Another fatal crash occurred around 2 a.m. and also involved a hit-and-run driver, according to Nevada State Police. The crash resulted in a six-hour closure of the freeway ramp.
Sergeant James Pazos said a driver in a small SUV struck a person who was on the ramp — from the west 215 to north I-15 — filling up their truck with gas.
Sgt. Pazo said the suspected hit-and-run driver was in a red or maroon 2018-2020 Nissan Kick that had front and right front and side damage. The SUV is possibly missing a right front headlight and side mirror.
Anyone who might have information on the crash or the suspect vehicle is urged to contact Crimestoppers at (703) 385-5555 or online at this link.
