Retrofitting natural gas with electricity!
Middle-class homes in the city of São Paulo (Brazil) pay around R$11/m³ (USD 2/m³) for the piped gas they consume.
It is equivalent to approximately R$1/kWh (USD 0.2/kWh) , which is more than what a household pays on its electricity bill.
The signalling is simple: replacing gas with electricity for this market segment makes economic sense.
And, of course, environmentally too, as Brazilian electrical energy originates from hydroelectric plants, wind and sun.
Now is the time for potential providers of electrical solutions (e.g. ovens, stoves, water heaters) to take the initiative and “make it happen”.
