Which energy source is “best”?
There are a variety of discourses on the market about each way of producing energy. And each “actor” presents a narrative to their liking. Some examples.
1. Hydropower
They are questionable because they require reservoirs and the associated damage they cause.
2. Energy from conventional thermal plants
They are polluting as they typically require gas or even coal.
3. Energy from nuclear thermal plants
They pose danger due to accidents caused by leaks.
4. Solar energy It generates pollution in the manufacture of photovoltaic film in addition to generating the “duck curve”.
5. Wind energy
The challenges: discarding the blades after their useful life, the harm to birds and the emission of sound that affect those close by. When I provide consultancy,
I always propose a holistic approach to my clients. This way, each source is compared as a whole and, preferably, ranked (costs and emissions) so that quality decisions can be made.
