Europe’s largest natural gas-fired power station eyes massive CCS (carbon capture and storage) project.
The RWE Pembroke B Power Station is home to five 400-MW Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) units. The plant was officially opened in September 2012. Pembroke has the capacity to generate enough electricity to power roughly four million homes. Carbon emissions from the Pembrokeshire, Wales, facility will be pumped across the Milford Haven estuary in undersea pipes, liquified at the Dragon LNG and Dragon Energy terminal, and then transported by ship to be buried under the North Sea. RWE aims to capture up to two megatons of emissions by 2030, increasing to five megatons by 2035. Amazing technology!
