Energy & blackouts: Everything remains the same!
I live in the south of São Paulo, Brazil, where the last blackout resulted in four straight days of unplanned interruption of the electricity supply.
The reasons for the blackout are very well known: Lack of pruning of trees around the power grid and lack of removal of trees that are compromised.
But, objectively, there is no change in the attitude of everyone involved in the electricity sector.
1) Inspection
I did not see any ANEEL (regulator) representative to inspect the power grid and, above all, check if they meet the standards as they should.
2) Electric utility
I didn’t see teams doing the “cleaning” around the medium voltage power lines, which is their responsibility.
3) São Paulo City Hall
I didn’t see teams doing the “cleaning” around the low voltage power lines, which is their responsibility.
Moral of the story: everything stays the same. The same carelessness as always, violating the rules.
Worst of all: there are no interlocutors to listen and take the necessary measures. It’s a shame!
