DOE. LPO. IRA. EIR. 1706…With all the acronyms involved in our work financing American energy, it’s sometimes helpful to zoom out and visualize what exactly our programs were created to achieve—for communities, the U.S. workforce, and the climate.
Just over a year old, the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment (EIR) program (also known as Section 1706 of the Title 17 Clean Energy Financing Program) is focused on retooling, repowering, repurposing, and replacing existing energy infrastructure that has ceased operations, or to reinvest in existing infrastructure, with new energy assets to help:
✓ Reinvest in energy assets to help speed the clean energy transformation
✓ Reduce emissions and support environmental remediation
✓ Provide the benefit of these projects to these communities and create quality jobs
