Lots happening in the field of Carbon Capture Storage and Hydrogen right as the Budget saw the Chancellor unveils £20bn CCS funding, energy relief support and nuclear package. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt confirmed a £20bn government support package for CCS, but developers of a Scottish flagship north scheme must wait for further details.
Outlining his 2023 Spring Budget, the Chancellor said: “I am allocating up to £20bn of support for the early development of carbon, capture, usage and storage, starting with projects from our East Coast to Merseyside to North Wales.”
He said this would pave the way for CCS schemes “everywhere across the country” as the country approaches 2050.. I’ve enjoyed sharing with the community over the years.
It’s a sector garnering global traction with significant interest beyond these shore in countries as diverse as Norway, Australia, the Unites States and, as we see from the header cities including both Paris and Durban.
We are tracking Project Acorn, the results of which are expected later this week, and looking forwards to sharing it with you and significant sectoral learnings in South Africa in June.
In advance of that feel free to join with me and the community of experts: CCS and Hydrogen
